After the formal part of our business meeting, Nikki Luxford (Reporter for the Costa Blanca News) gave us a fascinating and extremely moving illustrated talk about her charitable work in a small rural community in Malawi. She received a huge round of applause and, when she had finished, many people came forward to sign up as sponsors for the children she had talked about or to donate cash. | ![]() |

Maureen Burrows, Group Leader of the Knit, Stitch & Natter Group, and Candy Wright of the WIBC Spain (Women in Business Club) were congratulated on the donations and distribution of their work to charity.
Candy explained that some items were given to the Victims of Domestic Violence organisation. And some items, particularly blankets, were given to patients at La Pedrera Hospital, Dénia who were suffering from Alzeimers and dementia. These patients usually have no relatives or friends and the blankets become a very significant personal possession for them. |

This years' winner was Ray Durrant. Here we see him receiving the cup from the Green Bowls Group Leader, Don Roberts. |

Paul Wightman, the British owner of the newly opened shop La Casa de la Chocolate (situated near the farmacia in Moraira) gives a very knowledgable talk about chocolate, its contents and its history.
But, on his own admission, when he first came to Spain and had his business cards printed, he knew a lot less about Spanish spelling than he does now! |

Four lucky U3A members who volunteered to take part in a chocolate tasting and ascribe scores to the different chocolates.
Fortunately for the audience, unlike wine-tasting, they were not required to spit out the samples between tastings! |
